Kanata Tavern

This might look like another traditional Cyprus taverna, but it's more than this.

The restaurant is located on the cozy one-way street of the Pyrgos village. Keep in mind that there's no parking nearby, so be prepared to park down the street and enjoy a nice little walk around the village.

The menu is full of traditional Cyprus dishes. You can find mouthwatering moussaka, huge crispy pork chop or generous lamb chops.

Personally I enjoy the stefado, or stewed veal with onions. It's one of their best dishes and is rich in flavour, soft as silk and taste like french boeuf bourguignon. I also like the lamb chops, however they are not so consistent - sometimes they are a bit old or overcooked.

However, who I enjoy most is the owner who's a nice cyprus-british guy. The place is quite often crowded by the brits, which is a good sign in Cyprus.

The portions are large enough to feed a hippo. Especially the traditional moussaka or a pork chop. One concern is the price which could be lower for the village restaurant.

The score: taste 7/10, value 5/10, coziness 8/10
